HD Monitor

I have a 14.1" HD widescreen monitor and I watched the trailer for the Simpsons movie in HD and it didnt look any better than the non HD version of the trailer. Why is that? Is my monitor really HD or is it just HD ready or what?

Most monitors are at least 720p, so they would be HD.

It's probably because you're watching it on a 14" monitor. If you watched it on a 40", you would see a difference.

HD is just a resolution, computer monitors have been capable of HD resolutions for years now so almost all current monitors are in fact HD. If you don't see a difference in the two trailers then I suggest that you make sure your resolution is high enough, you may also try viewing the trailers in full screen if you haven't already. (btw I believe that 1280 × 720 is the beginning resolution for HD material)

edit: beat me...

bend over:D
jk but yeah what they are saying is true see i watched this trailer in hd that was 512x640 or something like that then i watched the trailer at 1200 or something like that and it was a massive difference

thanks

yeah my video is integrated does that make a diff? this thing wont even play counter strike source, but i hear my nvidia 7300LE turbo wont do too well either when i get it.

believe it or not most people can't tell the difference between HD and analog when shown one after the other. Most people have to be shown the two side by side for them to see the difference. Through my personal experiance, the only time I could tell a difference when watching hd on my 50" TV is watching sports. You can actually tell the difference in natural and artifical turf, uniforms are brighter, people are uglier, even watching nascar was cool this weekend. When I saw 24 in HD I couldn't really tell a difference.

Because when you watch sports the CONTENTis HD while when you watched 24 it was probably standard.

You need hd material to see the difference. Regular TV watching probably wont make a diff

and most ppl can in fact tell the difference. However, a lot of people don't thinkt he difference is worth the current cost of upgrading.
