HD Price Decrease ?

Being that most computer components have dropped in price (memory, CPU, etc), what do the knowledgable people think when HD prices will follow that path? For instance, I have been waiting for a 10k rpm HD to drop and I have yet to see it. Also, newegg doesnt even carry the raptor 36.7g anymore. Is there any reason that HD prices have remained relatively stable with other components seeing a noticable drop (besides the fact we rely on hard drives)?

Yeah sure the prices will drop, when faster/newer technologies become available. But to be honest 10k hdd`s are very fast and probably stay highly priced.

I doubt that 10K RPM drives are going to become reasonably priced in the near future. 7200RPM drives have been the standard for quite some time.

As always, the storage capacity per dollar will increase, particularly as perpendicular recording drives become more popular.
