HD speeds

It was here that someone told me the Maxtor with 16M cache was better than the raptors? What speed do they get in HD Tach? I just tested my RAID(2x 36.7G) and got 216MBs. Being the fastest or not, I'm darn pleased with it :D

Too fast? LOL, nah, people are just too used to it being a bottle neck ;)

Possibly cause most don't need or use such speeds ;). Also My hardware is capable of giving me much faster HD speeds with 2 raid controllers being onboard and yada but I honestly cannot be bothered as I feel my 120gb Sata HD at 7200rpm 8mb is enough and using my machine for everyday use as well as a bit of gaming is not going to benefit a whole lot with the extra expense of a Raid setup.

Hehe, yeah, I know. Well for video, I usally use my external drive which is fine. It's rare that I REALLY need this speed. I mean I could of just gotten a 74G or even some plain ATA drive, but it's nice to have :) Just like the biggest engine in a car. YOu don't need it, but it's there ;)

Thats what SCSI/Fibre and solid state are for. :) Also, whats the random performance like? Sequential is easy for every drive (and how about write ops)

LOL, SCSI/Fiber/solidstate are the Ferrari's of the group. I'm still stuck in the "Jeep with a 4.0 rather than a 4 banger" catagory ;P

What's a good program to test random performace? I'll look for one after this...
