HD stops working out of nowhere?

Hello CF,

So, I have three hard drives: My SSD (60GB), my HD I keep all my games/music/other large programs (600GB) and my 'other' HD which contains backups of my homework and other junk.

When downloading a game on my 600 GB HD, the HD closed. Steam stopped working, the drive is no longer on My computer. I restarted the computer, did the same thing. Did this sevral times until finally I shut off my computer, went inside the HD, and replugin the cables saw if that worked.

Now, -for now- the HD works with no issue. BUT I dont want this happening again. I have no idea what happened and I am wondering if you gusy might know what ti si. Is the HD dying? Perhaps the HD just wigged out for a moment?

My appreciation in advance.

Best thing you can do now is to download the test program for your brand HDD and burn it to a disk. Then boot to the disk and test the HDD, run the extended test. That will tell you for 100% sure is the drive is bad. It is possible your Data and power cables came loose somehow, but I doubt it.
