HD tune will damage your HDD?

I've seen some threads in other sites that had this kinda discussion, they draw the conclusion that HD tune will overwork your HDD, causing it's lifespan reduced significantly.

Is this true?

I haven't heard of any known cases where it has happened. Assuming damage could be caused, I wouldn't be too worried about it unless you are running HD Tune nonstop though.

It can't be true, I would have killed my drives several times over it that were the case. It's a good program, too.
