HD4850 upgrade isnt much of an upgrade

This HD4850 is either retarded or I am. I cant get Crysis to run at all with this card w/o artifacting whenever it wants. I think ive tried virtually every driver and driver cleaner, /sigh. I guess ill RMA this hunk of shit and wait another week to use my computer ;_;.

Does it have the heatink thats in your avatar? if it don't, then use rivatuner to crank the fan speed up.

Other than that, its going to be your CPU holding you back.

It's your processor, most likely. I had a 4600+ with my 9600GT, and my 3dmark06 score was 8135. Just with a CPU change to the 6000+ (65nm version), it went to 9229. With the 4850, I'm sure it'd be noticeably higher (maybe 10K?).

How do you explain the artifacting in the opening advertising in Crysis? The games runs fine at and after the Crysis menu though. Im updating to an intel board and Q6600 soon so Ill see if its the CPU or not.

I had same issue until I installed latest patch for the game..

Exactly what you just discribed...the patch fixed it.

Somewhat good news :). OC'ed my CPU from 2.4 to 2.6 and UT3 went up by ~7 frames on containment. Ordered a Q6600 to see if I can get it to what it should be.

^ yea same for me, i upgraded my video card from a 3850 to a 4850 and i get same 120-150 fps on css with the phenom 9500. with a dual core clocked to 2.8ghz, i get 180-200 fps

What motherboard did you get?
