Hdd+ssd

So I've upgraded to an SSD, and just today i plugged in my HDD to add some extra storage. I still had windows on my HDD and it booted from the HDD, After it booted it started installing new software (SSD) and couldn't figure out how to set my default boot from the SSD and now i'm having problems booting from the SSD with the HDD unplugged. I've gone into restore mode 2 times now, and each time windows boots up fine with no problems. But now every time I restart my PC it goes into restore mode because it failed to boot.

I removed the HDD and just went back to my SSD, If my pc is turnd off for long periods of time, it fails to start up. And it goes into windows recovery. After about 10 minutes I'm back on and no problems. Could this happen because i have a SATA cable plugged in to a HD slot? But the SATA cable isn't plugged into anything on the other end. So it's plugged in to the MoBo but not the HDD. I'm not sure what happened, this only started happening when i plugged in my HDD along with my SSD. After I did that it booted from my HDD and installed my SSD on my HDD as a storage unit. i'm not sure if that made any changes to my SSD tho. Or possibly something happened in the BIOS on the mobo. Any info would be helpful!

THANKS
