HDD test/check

hi there my second post after registering..
By the way i just want to know if there are any risk that i can make in fixing or determining the problem of my old pc since i want to check my HDD if it will run fast with a higher processor, VGA, Motherboard and others. is there a danger? or somekind of overclocking? oh yeah

before i forget, can i overclock my Core 2 Duo processor with a total frequency of 2.8GHz? whats overclocking?

There is no risk of connecting old hdd to new pc.
Overclocking is feature to increase the frequency of the processor from the normal value to increase and improve speed.Make sure you system has enough cooling to handle the heat caused bu overclocking.
