hdd upgrade question

Hello everyone,

Here's my problem. I have a fujitsu-siemens amilo m6450g laptop with an 80 gb harddrive and i'd like to upgrade to 320 gb. I don't know if this computer would support 320. Perhaps someone already tried that and could help me with my problem?

Some additional info:
I've had an external 250 gb harddrive attached and it worked. So does this mean that the internal drive of 250 gb should also work? The external drive was the one with usb connection, not a network drive.

I beleive external drives are more dependent on the enclosed chipset than the computer itself.

I did some quick research and the computer does have SATA150, so you shouldn't be limited by your interface, seeing as such large capacity drives are SATA300. I'm not entirely sure, though, what the bios limitations would be. A 250GB should work, a 320 would probably work.

If your external drive is a 2.5" drive, you could always pop it in the laptop and see if the bios recognizes it before making a purchase.

Too bad the external is an ide 3.5, so there's no way to try it. I'll just buy a 250gb just in case, so that there would be someone to sell it to in case it doesn't work :) Thanks for the reply.
