hdmi and sleep mode?

I used to have my samsung HDTV hooked up through VGA but hooked it up through a DVI-HDMI cable (what a picture difference!).

It will no longer turn the tv off like it used to on VGA. The tv just says "No Signal". Is there any way to work around this or will i be forced to just turn it off when I'm away? :D
 
so I'm guessing no one is using an hdtv and a DVI to HDMI cord...

Anyone have any type of idea? A tv forum said it may be possible to write a progran for the computer to do this?
