Hdmi to vga

I am trying to connect my laptop to a projector. The Projector is having a VGA port. My laptop only has an HDMI port so I bought a HDMI to VGA cable by which I am trying to connect it to the projector. But the problem is that there is no signal on the projector display, but it is showing on my laptop that the projector is connected. I also tried to connect it to my my VGA CRT monitor, but the monitor is showing "No Signal". Please help me, I have the latest Nvidia Drivers. What should I do.

Does your laptop require pressing function + an F key, such as F5, in order to send a video output to the HDMI port? Every laptop I've owned required something like Fn + F5, or F8, except it was a VGA port.

Yes it has a Function key "Fn" but when I switch the display to projector or VGA monitor there is no output on the Monitor. It works with HDMI to HDMI, I assume both are digital signals thats why it works and VGA is analog
