HDMI vs. HDTV

I am looking at screens for my future computer build and i noticed that some monitors have HDMI input. i know what it is, but under LCD TV's they call it HDTV. are they the same picture or are they different? if i want a blu-ray player in my computer which input "reaps the blu-ray benifit" (hi-def). can Computers produce a high def image? can a computer hook up to a "HDTV" ? if they are different.....well whats the difference?

by computer i mean the VGA, not standard integrated graphics of course.

HDMI is a type of input, HDTV just refers to the TV's ability to display a high definition video. In order for a computer to display Hi-Def content, you need a monitor which supports 720p resolution or higher (1360x768).

And yes you can connect your PC to your HDTV via VGA, DVI, HDMI, or Component.
 
so the monitor doesnt specifically need HDMI input to display hi-def? just capable of producing a resolution of at least 720p?
