im looking to get a headset to play games. but i just want one with the style like xbox. i want the game sound to come out of the 5.1 computer speakers and then the team chat to come out of the headset with a mic attached. is that even possible, or if you have a headset the sound has to come out of the headset and will no longer use the computer speakers?

Well... You could probably run a pair of sound cards and do this. Or perhaps some of these USB headsets. I've never used them, but they have to work independently of your sound card... The real problem is dividing up which program uses which card. I know in the control pannel, you can select which records and what not, but I'm not totally sure if you can do the same between programs.
