Heat problem + fans

I'm really not sure what to do.

My amd 64 6000+ brisbane core @ stock voltage runs at high temp when I play cod4. I got to 60'C today and It wasn't even a full game. The max for my cpu is 62, once it reaches that the game freezes (it happened when I had the voltage slightly higher before).

So I'm considering getting a fan so I can keep it cool and overclock it a bit.

The problem is, when I upgrade my cpu, maybe I'll get a Nahleam, and then i'd need a different fan. If I get a phenom I won't need to because I can get a fan that works with my cpu and with a phenom.

Any fans that you guys reccomend?
 
A lot of aftermarket fans are compatible with both Intel and AMD CPUs (they just come with different sets of brackets and such), though it's hard to say with a processor that hasn't come out yet (Nehalem). Are you really considering switching from AMD to Intel? I got the impression that money was tight, and that money might be better spent sticking with a Phenom and getting a better GPU in the future...instead of getting a new mobo, too
 
Yeah I don't have lots of money I was just maybe thinking of getting a Nahleam.

I think I would have to get a new mobo for a phenom though, I'm not too sure.

My motherboard is the AM2 socket and I think phenom is different.

Do you think Amd will release a new quad type?

I might just get a cpu cooler that will work with mine and phenom. Hmm.

oh man i was so mad cause i thought it didnt and I was like ****, I need to get a new motherboard.

Yea, I was wondering why you'd want to spend dough to switch motherboards. =P

AM3 CPUs will work on our AM2 or AM2+ boards. The only downside is that certain features won't be available (like DDR3 RAM support). But it's great news for AMD owners.
 
DDR3 is totally unnecessary at this point anyway (for now). There's no difference you're gonna see except a lighter wallet.
 
I'm very aware of that but by the time I decide to upgrade it might be a big difference.

Help me find a fan around 50 bux please
