Well im finally gunna make a decision, been playin some cod2, my 6800gt is gettin to mid 90's and i dont like it...should i lap the gpu and bfg stock hsf or buy a new hsf, which i can afford but dont really want to put any more money into this current rig..

Along with both options im going to tidy the wire situation.

Mid 90's? wow.. that really hot, even for a 6800GT... i had mine overclocked pretty much and it didnt even got that hot..
maybe you should take the card out once and clean the heatsink from dust (also unscrew the metal plate of the heatsink, so you can clean it of dust between the plates of the heatsink)
also an idea is to just remove the PCI plate ( you know... when you dont have a PCI card in that slot) so the Fan can pull its ait from there

Because i made 450 / 1150 with my xfx 6800GT, and it was 73*C idle, 83*C full load. and i used stock cooling too :)
However,.. if you have a PCI-e motherboard, you could go for a 7900GT,.. they are fairly cheap, and really good :o

Ok so im going to pull it out and clean it up, add some as5 for a start, also there is nothing next to the card in the pci slot and even on top of that the metal piece that covers the opening isnt there, so there is some airflow there.

i dunno i maybe just buy a new cooler mainly because they can be had for 20-30 while buying the sand paper alone will come out to close to 15 maybe 10 bux, that extra cash wont kill me
