Heatmapper

What are you looking to use it for? Usually you'll tie it in with the spectrum analyzer they provide which isn't particularly cheap.

It's supposed to show where the weak spots are for your wi-fi in the house. It's not that critical, just saw that it was free and thought it might be worth a try.

I was more curious as to for what kind of deployment, and yes it's clearly a heatmapping piece of software.

You could always give it a shot and report back. Most of the enterprise types of deployments I've been on require a spectrum analyzer.

I use Ekahau for our campus deployment, Heatmapper is a nice utility for homes. Have fun with it, you just need to draw a diagram to scale of your house with all floors, then select wall types, which can take a bit of time. It's not as simple as launching, pressing a few buttons, and seeing where the dead spots are.

IMO for a home, a simple WiFi analyzer app showing signal strength would be more than fine. By the time you get the floor plan created for Heatmapper, you could have walked your whole house and made mental notes of where WiFi was weak.

You could always give it a shot and report back. Most of the enterprise types of deployments I've been on require a spectrum analyzer.
Depends what you're looking for, generally you don't do a spectrum sweep of an entire deployment, just if you are specifically looking for non-802.11 interference or troubleshooting high noise floors.
