Hey guys, I am going to get an HSF for my current PC. I have come across loads of coolers but would like to ask you about which heatpipe HSF you would prefer and why?

I like the following TT Sonic Tower:

You might want to check that your motherboard can physically support the great weight that the heatsink poses. It is very big and very heavy, check that it even fits in your case with other components.

Haha

Yes it would fit and Yes it would need support from the top of the case (wires). However, it's one of the best TT has on offer.

Ha, very inventive, supporting wires. And yes it is one of the best coolers around, AND completely passive so.......**0db**!!! :)

I like that idea, and rumor has it that heatpipe coolers are pretty good, Im just wondering how much better they will be in place of a stock heatsink.

looks like minidvds or something stacked up into 4 bulks LOL
4 eh?

Heatpipes dont technically do the majority of the cooling per se, they just move the heat efficiently from point A to point B (i.e., further away) so that it can be cooled there

and this means, you have the same amount of energy (in heat) quicker spread over a lagrer surface. and that improves the cooling :)

Well it means that instead of a classic heatsink design where the heat "slowly" moves from the base to throughout the fins, with a heatpipe the heat does that and additionally gets "moved" quickly to the finstructure to help with the dissipitation :)
