Heatsink and Fan?

Nah, typically you'll get a heatsink/fan with your CPU (depending on where you get it). Otherwise, you can invest in a better one and buy it separately.

The heat sink that comes with the 720 is crap. I think it´s better that they don´t send you one, at least that way you´ll be forced to buy one . Even the cheapest would be more efficient. Sorry for the rant , I just hate stock heat sinks.

If your planning on overclocking, id grab an aftermarket heatsink. The Xigmatek S-964 is a good budget one that will handle a fair bit of heat.

Probably not, the gripe i have with the S1283 is that it blocks the first two ram slots on most amd motherboards.

Not going to rant about not liking Xig, but if you do get one you better check it out. On a AMD socket, the way most of the pipes and clips are made on Xig you can only point them up or down.

(Thats what i was saying about the 1283 blocking slots, the smaller one fits fine though in all the cases ive seen)

Edit: When i say "cases" i mean situations, not cases/enclosures hehe.

No I mean you can only point the fan up or down on a AMD with a Xig. You cant install them with the fan toward the front of the case to exhaust out the back case fan. Never really like installing them that way, sucking hot air off the video card and blowing it in the PSU. Unless there is models with a different clip I havent seen.

*sigh*, I guess I'll just stick with the heatsink that comes with the CPU instead of buying another one. If it's really that bad or malfunctional, well, I'll decide what to do then.

The stock ones are not that bad, there just the standard AMD heatsink (upsets people because its a BE model). It will be just fine unless you start cranking up the voltage.

Heh, i remember when the blacks didnt even have a heatsink. Why do people expect so much from a cpu a few bucks cheaper when everyone who overclocks gets an aftermarket anyhow lol.
I don't think I'll be doing any over-clocking, I'm a noob :P lolz.
You'll learn, plus the stock heatsink can do a little bit of overclocking.
