Heatsink mount

I got a used motherboard and everything worked fine except the motherboard didnt have anything to screw the heatsink (for the cpu) into. There were 4 holes aroung the heatsink but there were not any threads. Is there anything I can do to better secure it besides returning it?

Didn't the heatsink come with a back-plate? What heatsink is it?

Oh, now i get it, you pull the plate off the other motherboard when you switch them.
How do I remove the back plate?

So you were using this heatsink on another motherboard then?

You will have to remove the motherboard in order to remove/apply the backplate to it
