Heatsink Won't Fit

Hi,

I just bought a new Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor which it says works with the motherboard in the manual.

I installed the processor OK, but the heatsink and fan won't go in. The fasteners position over the holes correctly, but when I attached one half the other half won't reach. It says in the manual to attach the diagonally opposite fasteners but this isn't possible. If I attach one of the fasteners and then the one diagonally opposite the first one just pops out.

Please can someone suggest what I can do?

Maybe an extra hand to keep the cooler steady and level while you fasten it. Is this an intel stock cooler? Maybe the company website will give more information.
 
Did you turn that black knob-thing once you pushed it down? Cause that secures it and prevents it from popping out.
