what is it really 4? is it bad 2 run a computer without 1? if i put a afternarket heatsink and fan on my computer, would it keep the CPU alot cooler?

Heatsinks transfer the heat from a device, such as a CPU. Then the air current caused by your fans passes over it, taking the heat away from it. Some devices dont need heatsinks, but others do. Are you talking about the CPU heatsink?

And if you bought an aftermarket one, it would depend on the quality and design of it. Some can cool much better then the stock, while others are only on par with stock.

i dont think it's running 2 hot, i dont have a sensor 4 the CPU, but i do the HD, i'd say the CPU runs at around 40C?

Theres really no reason to replace the stock heatsink on a dell computer, seeing how you can't overclock them anyways. It may make it run a bit cooler, but you're not going to notice any performance increase.
