Heatsinks keep falling off. Solution???

I recently bought a x800 xl 256mb agp and found after playing for about 10mins or more the two small heatsinks on the bottom fall off. These heatsinks are only attached via some sort of tape/glue and after resticking them on they will stay there until they start to heat up again.

Any one have problems like this before and if so got any solutions? (eg using super glue or something??)

Try scraping a bit of the thermal paste off at each side, im pressuming that they have that on... are they these red heatsink rectangle things?
Try doing that and putting little dabs of super glue on each end while keeping the thermal paste in the middle.

bit hard when it was bought online!

I think they are the heatsinks for the onboard RAM they are black rectangle things. There doesnt appear to be any heatsink compound on them only some sorta sticky stuff (well it isn't very sticky!). I have some heatsinking compund lying around so I might put a dab on.

Can I use superglue to stick them back on or is this corrosive???

heatsink compound wont do it; you need to look for thermal glue.

i would however get into contact the vendor and see about getting an RMA as those heatsinks are there to keep your card working correctly and if they keep falling off they are now doing their job.

Try and return it as mentioned. If you can't or don't want to, try thermal glue or maybe a new heatsync. I know some cover the both the GPU and RAM. If there's a good one for the x800, I don't know right off...
