Hello! Help Me Please Building A Comp From Scratch

Hello everyone on this forum, this is my first post by the way and i created this account just now. I am interested in making a new computer for the first time ever, and have around 1700 dollars to do so. I picked out some parts already and have listed the price from my local computer store (canadacomputers.com). I'm also wondering if these parts will work together, and concerned with all the little details (such as bottle necking). I'm new to computers, as in building them, like if i were to put ram into a computer i could do that, but that is the only thing i have done. Anyways this build will be open to all your suggestions and any concerns you guys might have. (i also don't mind going a little over budget as long as its justified)

OCZ Ram isn't very popular on the board. And you list 8Gb's twice... are you planning to build with 16 Gigs of Ram?

Also, it looks like your MoBo and CPU are of different socket types. You apparently have an 1156 socket type CPU with a 1366 socket type MoBo.

Then you dont need to change your motherboard and its a bit cheaper.

Were you planning on overclocking, because otherwise you don't need a cpu with the multiplier unlocked?

-thanks you very much for replying. i dont plan on overclocking (im not to familiar with it never done it before, although i plan to use this comp for games, i also heard it can be bad for comp since it overheats), hmm is the i7 930 any good?
 
Yeah i7 930 is good. It is more than enough for gaming so if you wanted to save money you could even drop down to an i5 core and have a nice system.

But if you have the money by all means stick with the i7.

The one I posted above comes with a stock fan (as do most). Stock cpu fans are not high quality and many people choose to replace them. That's up to you, but with no overclocking you should get by fine with the stock fan.


As for motherboards and video cards, I'll leave that up to someone who knows more than me.
The only thing I would say is that the card you have now is pretty expensive so you might be better off to save a hundred or two on a different one.

Thanks for replying, well i was wondering then instead of getting the i7 930 should i get this cpu....
