Hi,

I am in need of a new desktop. I have ridden this old mule for quite some time and she is becoming tired and problematic. This is an old 650mhz athlon computer I built in 2000 (processor looks like an old atari catridge). It has been running almost constantly since early 2000 and has been quite a trooper. However I need something new and robust...

I will be using this computer for mainly business ... website forms, surfing, emails, etc. This computer always has great difficulty opening emailed forms (among other things) and I hope this new comp will not have the same problems. I will be gaming on my 360 so I don't need anything bleeding edge. But what I do want is a 64 bit processor, wireless internet, ability to run Vista, and I want it to be black in color. I would tend to lean toward build quality more than having the greatest gpu, biggest hdd etc.

My budget is around 600 dollars or so, the less the better but again build quality is important. Monitor not included is OK. I do not want to build anything myself to save a few dollars, I don't have the time or patience for this anymore :o I would like to purchase from a known manufacturer with a warranty. I am very attracted to the look of the Lenovo ThinkCentre's and I suspect these are well built ... is this true? Can their 600+- models with 64 bit processors run Vista with ease?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Thanks for the replies. What do you ppl think about this desktop for the reasons already stated? Will this be able to run Vista? How is the quality on these things?

can i get some other recommendations for a $1000-or-less system thats 64 bit, black, and comes with a flat panel monitor thats at least 19"? Or any input from any1 whos owned one of these thinkcentres? Thanx

I would recomend one of the think centres like you said but make sure you don't have intergraded graphics and at least 1gig of ram. And one more thing if you want it to run Windows Vista. Make sure they say is it Windows Vista capable.

is it a pci gpu or agp and can i just add a gpu card at some point in the future? and i dont see where any of their systems say vista capable. however i read a news story online that say they are ... *confused* plus i wonder if the cpu can be upgraded in the future too or is it soldered in? this may be a dumb question..

I think you can add a 16x pci express graphics card later if you want but I am not too sure.

Some of their computers are Vista capable and also Windows Vista Premium Ready. I will tell you the models that are vista capable and Windoes Vista Premium Ready: The A52, A60, and the M52. These are the ones that are Vista capable and also Windows Vista Premium Ready. But if you just want them Vista capable, then the: E50, A51, A52, A60, M51 and M52 are all Vista capable.

And as for the cpu being upgraded in the future I think it is possible but I am not that sure.

Hope this helps
