Help! 6600GT starts artifacting for no reason

i've had my 6600GT for almost 2 years now, and there has never been anything wrong with it

last tonight, CS started artifacting for me, but then it fixed itself

when i came home today, CS artifacted so bad that the computer would freeze for no reason - during this process, the screen would black out (and once even lose signal so that my monitor went from green to yellow/orangish idle) and then reappear

eventually, the blacking out started appearing so much and my whole desktop (not just CS now) started to artifact, so i shut my computer down for good

the last couple of days have been pretty hot here in california, but the card never reached over 80'C and it idles around 50-55 (normally it idles around 40)

on one occasion I got a BSOD during the blacking out phase, which subsequently led to an auto-restart of my computer

what do i do?? help! ;(

when did you last clean out your computer? I mean physically? if its been a while you could have ur heatsinks clogged, or maybe a fan has died.
just try cleaning it out with compressed air.
 
=( already tried

i knew my computer was getting a little hot from the weather so i cleaned the CPU and gfx already last week
