I'm a college student and I am going to get my AS for computer science. Although I've been steered away from this I'm building my own pc from scratch. My budget is a maximum of $1500. So far here is kind of a rough outline of what I have planned.
CASE-(I'd like a clear one) $60-$80
MOBO-$150? Possibly purchase as a bundle with CPU?
POWER SUPPLY-$90
CPU-$150
RAM-8gb $70
DRIVES- SSD$109 OPTICAL-$50-$60
COOLING DEVICE$30
GRAPHICS CARD-$70
Wifi card? $20-$30
Windows 8-$90
LCD MONITER-$140
KEYBOARD/MOUSE-$20

Am I missing anything? I'd like some advice on compatible parts and products that fall into my price range, this computer will be used for design and music recording(not anything pro) PLEASE HELP A COLLEGE STUDENT OUT

You got your prices way off, you should spend much more on things like the video card, motherboard, and the cpu and less on things like the optical drive, the case, and ram.

Just make sure you have a high end graphics card and the only thing I see missing on the list is a Sound card.

If this computer is going to be used for "design and music recording" you might want to look at Macs instead of PC's. ;) I say this because every time I did IT at companies that would design stuff like Sunday ads, print companies, design companies etc... all they would run is MAC's not PC.

Ok thanks guys these are just like kind of a generalized idea I've gotten from research with 0 hands on experience, and can you program on macs? I'm not interested in high end recording stuff like protools so yea I'm more interested in game design and just mastering my own music demos

Ok now with a Mac desktop is there the same level of customization as you'd get with a pc, like say"I need a new CPU" can you build a Mac from the ground up?
