HELP! Avast anti virus wont shut up!

every few minutes it makes an alarm sound and when i try to see why it did it there is no virus found window! its really annoying. how do i shut this thing up?

run a complete "thorough" scan and make sure that there really isn't any virus.

Well you can still run it once in a while. I mean as long as you don't go around the internet downloading every suspicious thing you probably won't randomly get a virus...

I've come up with a name for this kind of stuff. "Book gnats". Info from software that takes over your computing experience and swarms around you endlessly with annoying information.

A twelve gauge shotgun might help.............
