HELP! AVI Video No Sound on DIVX

I've transfered some pictures from my camera to my computer. I couldn't play the videos becuase they are AVI. After days, I stumbled across and I downloaded DivX and now it plays the video but it wont play any sound.
I get an error message that I may need to install a directshow decoder??
I've googled it but it doesn't look so straight forward.

Does anyone know what I need to do? I've attempted to download something which I thought it was but maybe It wasn't for AVI. I'm so confused. Can anyone shine any light or help me out with links for downloads.

I guess downloading the "FFDShow" codec might fix this problem. If you still have trouble, get the VLC Media Player, which is very powerful: it can play most video formats (including HD) very well, and you don't need any codec.
It still might give trouble (VLC Media Player) with some videos, for example I made in After FX a video and it just wasn't playing with vlc, i had to use Windows Media Player.
