Help building a new PC

Hi everyone,

I shoot RAW photography (high def pics) and I also edit videos. I currently use Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. My current PC is way too slow and I think it's time for an upgrade. I need something that will allow me to apply presets, backgrounds, overlays, etc with ease and no lag to my pics. Also something that can handle video editing and rendering fast and easy.

I'd like an Intel build with a $3k budget. I need lots of storage (ssd 500GB and HDD 4TB). What build would you recommend and liquid or air cooling? Please provide links.....I don't need any peripherals.

Thanks Everyone!

This would be a very rich list for what OP is doing. I built my first PC for pretty much what OP is describing. I am very happy with my built. I may have been too conservative in my CPU choice (Ryzen 7 2700x). If I can do it again, the following is probably what I would spec. And it more than enough . . .

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/K48bGc

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor ($338.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($74.98 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($152.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($152.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: HP EX920 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($149.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Toshiba X300 5 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($138.49 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB GAMING OC Video Card ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Apex Vortex 3620 ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA BQ 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($79.94 @ ModMyMods)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.98 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($139.99 @ Other World Computing)
External Storage: Western Digital My Book 10 TB External Hard Drive ($198.00 @ B&H)
Total: $1736.31

For my 7-2700x, it doesn't require any other cooler except the one that came with it. I did added 3 case fans that bring the temperature down to around 70C when encoding video. The cost of 3 fans is about $12

He got 3k budget...
Still, it's best to get the best bang for the bucks.

The most demanding ap Op is going used is Premiere Pro, which demands more with CPU. The more core, the better. The 7 3800x will let him do all the task smoothly in PP. PP doesn't tax the GPU as much. The GTX 1660 with 6 gb of vRam is very good. For the HHD, I definitely want to have the higher RPM.

Other than the CPU, the other most critical component for video editing is the Nvme SSD, which is around 16x faster than the HHD. In 4k video, the HHD just doesn't cut it.
