Help building my first computer

How could I know for sure if the Alienware case would work or not? I'd rather just use that and save 60 bucks.

Ok, I'm about to order all of my parts. Heres what I've decided on.

Intel Core i5 2500k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072
Gigabyte z68 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495
XFX Radeon HD 6950 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150527
Antec 620W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371048
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

Does everything look ok?

I went to Frys and bought the HAF 912 case because it was cheaper and I save 10 bucks on shipping.

I need to figure out what type of RAM I need though. I was told I needed slimmer sticks, can someone point me in the right direction? I wanna go with 8GB. And I want a 500GB - 1TB HDD. Anything thats cheap.

Dont know what you mean by slim. But some tall sticks can interfere with you CPU heatsink if you have a big aftermarket one.

Ok thanks a lot! How much have HD prices gone up since the flooding? Would I be better off to buy a smaller size and upgrade later?

The HDD prices have gone up over 100% since the flooding.
I would suggest just getting a SSD and waiting on the HDD till prices go back down.

possibly. I would check it out in store to be sure.
Newegg used to stock the Black 1TB for $89, but as you pointed out, its 219 now.

I better jump on that Fry's price quick then. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll be ordering the rest of my parts from NewEgg when I get home from school in a couple hours.
