Help building my first PC

Hello everyone!

I’m planning on building my first rig in the next week or so. I have been looking around online, doing research and such, but am terribly confused with all the many options I have. My budget is $550, and no I cannot go over that.

I plan on using the computer mostly for running programs like Office, browsing videos online, watching good quality DVDs, listening to music, and also playing games. What’s important to me is that it will be able to run these programs simultaneously, and fast. My old computer takes ages to copy/paste large files, and I would hope my new build to have no problem doing these tasks lightning fast.

I want to be able to play the latest games at medium quality if that’s possible.
So, these are the items that I need to buy:

CPU
GPU
Motherboard
PSU
Case
Memory
Hard Drive
Optical Drive
Monitor

So, any suggestions would be much appreciated…

I would recommend taking a look at what is suggested in this thread http://www.computerforum.com/216442-500-less-desktop.html I configured a build in there which was under 500 bucks.

As you want a GPU too, I'd get something like this in addition to the build in that thread http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125396&name=Desktop-Graphics-Cards and it should still come to about 550ish.
