Alright, this is copy and pasted out of another forum that I tried. They were morons and did not even attempt to help me. Let us hope we are different here. I'm looking for a new laptop, so, maybe someone can suggest something, or tell me that im crazy and never find anything like that.

Alright, I think I'll give this a shot, and see what people say. I've been looking for about a month, and I'm on a budget, and so far, im ALWAYS about a hundred bucks over. So, here is what I need.

General Questions

1) What is your budget?

-I would prefer not to top 900, but a grand would be alright.

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

-size doesnt matter, as long as its not one of those air craft carriers hp sells, small would be NICE, but it doesnt matter at all.

a. Ultraportable; 12" screen or less
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

-light gaming (if it could play battle field 2 on low graphics, i would be more than happy), and just general multimedia

4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

-it will sit next to my desktop monitor for about 3/4 of its life, but i do plan to take it with me if i go away on the weekends or whatever, just light travel

5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

-yes, many rts games (c&c generals, dow), some fps games (CS, half life 2, bf2 if it can)

6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

-im not fond of dell just because they try to trick you into buying extra **** all the time (but am still willing to buy one), and i hate toshiba, just because the keyboards SUCK, i like HP and compaq

7) How many hours of battery life do you need?

-not long at all, if i get two FULL hours (on a full load, like playing a game) i would be more than happy

8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

-doesnt bother me, i want to know ALL the specs however, and it cant be from some backwater little site

9) What country are you buying this in?

the USA

Screen Specifics

10) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

-screen doesnt matter to me (ive put up with ****ty ones long enough, so im used to it)

a. XGA = eXtended Graphics Array; 1024x768; This resolution will give you the largest viewable text and images while offering the least amount of screen real estate.

b. SXGA = Super eXtended Graphics Array; 1400x1050; This resolution offers a middle ground between XGA and UXGA.

c. UXGA = Ultra eXtended Graphics Array; 1600x1200; This resolution will give you the smallest viewable text and images while offering the greatest amount of screen real estate.

d. WXGA = Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array; 1280x768 or 1280x800; This resolution offers the same as XGA except that there is more horizontal real estate; 1280 versus 1024. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

e. WXGA+ = Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array+; 1440x900; This resolution is offered on 17" widescreen notebooks and is comparable to WXGA in terms of text and icon size versus available screen real estate. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

f. WSXGA+ = Widescreen Super eXtended Graphics Array; 1680x1050; This resolution is comparable to SXGA in that it offers a middle ground between WXGA/WXGA+ and WUXGA. Popular for movie viewing due to support for widescreen.

g. WUXGA = Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array; 1920x1200; This resolution offers the smallest viewable text and images while offering the greatest amount of screen real estate.

11) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

-like i said, doesnt matter, but the glossy ones do catch my eye

Build Quality and Design

12) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

-i hate the way toshibas notebooks look, and as long as its completely pink or something stupid like that, im fine

13) How long do you want this laptop to last?

-a little over 2 years

Notebook Components

14) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?

- 80 gig is a must (i MIGHT budge on 60 if its really worth it)

15) Do you need a DVD, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-R drive?

-dvdrw drive

16) -I added this one- RAM

- i ABSOLUTELY need a gig of ram (i refuse to use 512 anymore)

to anyone who even took the time to read this, thank you VERY much

There's a few Toshibas and HP's with an ATI x200 or x300 on their systems. With that you can play BF2 with lower settings, you just have to match them up with the HD requirement you posted. Other than that, any notebook computer can handle your needs.

I would suggest using all this as search criteria on newegg.com and see what all comes up under the notebook advanced search
