help-can't change password

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook 700 series laptop. My problem is that it has been sitting unused for a long time and I forgot the password. But here is what happens: When the password box comes up I type in a password(it will say incorrect password) and then hit the x button in the corner. The control panel comes up with all kinds of different icons including the word 'password' with a two key icon. When I click the password icon to change my password what comes up is 'user profile' and 'user profile setting'. Any ideas how I can change my password or cancel it so I can access my computer correctly? If the information can't be given over the internet maybe someone can tell me how I can get it done.

Judging by the information on Fujitsu's website, you are running Windows 2000 Professional (or did you take the upgrade to XP)?

What operating system do you have?
How old is the laptop?
Any chance of some photos, or more description on the problem?
Is this on the BIOS (black screen, blue box), or inside Windows?

If you post this information, it should be much easier for us to help.

operating system is Windows 95. Also, I have a recovery CD so maybe I can use that to erase everything and copy it. What do you think?
