help cd or dvd burner issue

i just put in a new cd burner into my friends dell computer which the problem im having is the cd i put into it isnt being read for some reason when i put a disc in it says this but it doesnt autoload it says please insert a disk into drive E:. but it doesnt say nothing about the disc that i have put in drive E it only shows it as removable disk E but doesnt show the CD that i put in it has a necro cd in it but it doesnt show the cd or recognize it at all is there anything i can do to fix this? plus under device manager it says sony CD-RW CRX320EE but it also has a exclamation point near it with a yellow circle but it has this code 39 when i go to properties on it and click on general tab it shows this

i hooked this up right im sure i did its just it wont work when i put cds or anything in it as far as installing the cd burner program and stuff so i hope somebody can help me ou twith this if so let me know wht to do thanks for your help its much appreciated :)

i dont know where to go the box says iomagic but the burner is recognized as a sony so im not sure whats what really
 
if it is a sony. it should also say that on the box. oimagic is either some software or the name of the cd burner. but to find the driver go to the sony website.
if you are having trouble with that, find that cd burner you bought on newegg or some other site and post the link here and i will find it myself.

she called dell and they helped her get it working i think

so cd burners need drivers? how do they read cds if that person with the burner doesnt have a internet connection to get drivers? or are the drivers already in them just have to be activated somehow
 
well they shouldnt need it since they should be installed automatically. but sometimes something goes wrong and you have to reinstall drivers
