Help complete my system

i couldn't think of anything i had on my computer that bothered me (although i'm sure i will) so i'm just posing a question regarding the steps i should take in terms of my "to-do" list when keeping my system up to date. generally i just go on google to find the answers i need but i figure that it would be faster knowing what to do beforehand rather than fixing things as the problems come.

i run auslogics defragment regularly.
i have a general idea of how to update my drivers, although i'd like to know which ones should be a priority.
i use mcafee ante virus software (which i really like so far, but i'd like to get a second opinion on it).
i delete any and all things i'm not using.
keep my folders organized so i don't get confused about what i have.
i use a laptop with a gig of ram so its not super fast or slow, but i'd like to know if it would be a hassle for me to get more and how to go about doing that.

i can't really think of anything else i need to do or what wouldn't hurt to do so if i'm missing something i'd greatly appreciate the help.

Look if you want to to keep you windows based computer in good shape then this is what you need to do. 1st, run a defrag once a month, do a anti-virus scran every two weeks (this all depends on what and how much you do online), I do not like mcafee, I would say use AVG (free version availbe cnet.com and covers virus and spyware protection). As far as upgrading your ram go to crucial.com and all you have to do is enter in your computer info and it will tell you how much ram you can go up to and the type you need to buy, Do not buy there. Once you get the info on which one you need go to newegg.com find it and buy it (cheapest place for ram that I have found) and then google or ask us and we will give you directions on how to do it. Even better go to youtube.com and they will more then likely have videos showing you how to install that ram.

yeah i've used AVG. i liked that one too, only it didn't prompt me as often as mcafee is. but, then again i haven't really read much about either so i'll look into it again. thanks a ton.
