Help! Computer Meltdown!

my new vista machine took a dump on me today, ironically after telling my dad its been working great so far. all of my usb devices besides keyboard and mouse have stopped working. i cannot get anything else to work besides KB+M.
It says something about the device has stopped working and windows can't recognise it. Then i restarted, and i couldnt get into vista. Reformat and reinstalled, same problem and KB+M are working still. i have checked bios settings and such... and to be safe i formatted again and the problem persists... Is there a known fix, or have my mobo's USB ports died? All of my devices work on my XP machine flawlessly but they refuse to work in vista now. I really need help i have already lost all my drivers. They are on my usb flash drive but i cant access it!!! I cant get on the net on that machine either because the integrated LAN hates vista and the USB wireless is MIA in vista... the last updates to the computer were 2 days ago and everything worked perfectly and today my pc has gone totally haywire. why won't my usb ports work???

EDIT: I have gotten my USB "LG UP3# PLayer" to work, but now windows is saying i only have usb 1.1 ports... but at least nowi can load drivers

OK, now my wireless is working... the only thing that won't work is my 2gb flash drive... It seems that this was a temporary thing. Sigh, i shouldnt have reformatted. oh well, at least i can organise everything again.
