HELP, computer won't start.....

My friend gave me a computer to try to fix for him.
I plugged it in and it did nothing, not even a noise.

I assumed that it is the PSU, but I am not sure.
I opened it up, smelled it, and it doesn't smell burned or anything.
I see a little spot in it that is a little brown, but just a little, so it might be evidence of the psu burning up, but I'm not sure.

I changed the PSU for a new one and NOTHING.
The little start led light on the power button is the only thing that is on.
But I press power and nothing happens, no movement, no noise, nothing.

Whats next ?????????????????????

What do I do now ?

Could it be the MOBO that went out ?
What should I check next ?

Thanks

It could be your motherboard being dead, but also check to make sure the motherboard isnt being shorted by touching the case.

I agree with holdenssx, typically the two most common reasons a computer wouldn't start is the PSU or mobo. A short could be a reason however unless it is a new build, or something new was installed it is very unlikely. Check the motherboard for browning on the capacitor. Also remove the video card, RAM and all PCI cards. I've encountered situations where these have caused problems too. Typically when trying to diagnose a hardware issue, the first step is to isolate different pieces of hardware to narrow your focus until a single piece can be identified as the problem. Change the PSU and your comp works, you know it’s the Power supply, remove the RAM and it works, same there and etc.

Good Luck.

Well its kind of late now, So I'll try that tomarrow in the morning.
The MOBO didn't have any signs of browning at all.
Also I touched it, and the main chip on the MOBO would get really hot to the touch.
Peace
