help connecting to wireless network

I have always been bad with networking. I had to reformat my hard drive and just reinstalled windows. I ran the updates and intalled my linksys wireless adapter. I found the network and am getting the limited or no connectivity bubble on the desktop. Also, I can bring up the connection manager linksys window and it says that I have connected to the access point but the internet cannot be found. When I right click and tell it to repair the connection it fails at renewing the ip address. Any help would be great.

Turn off modem and router. Turn modem back on and wait for it to sync up for about a minute or so then turn router back on, wait for it to sync up and you should have internet again. Might not hurt to turn pc off until router gets synced up and then turn pc on again to get signal.

I`m not a networking boffen, but are you near a satelite for tv?
Sounds stupid i know but i tried 2-3 different wireless routers, and none working and they were all different makes, and i installed the stuff correctly had correct settings etc, but still no joy.And i asked my I.T at college and he was baffled, and he said it could be the satelite tv dishes cause i`ve got two close to me,and it could be interference.

I tried resetting the network by turning off the modem and router, this didn't work. Also, I am near a satellite for tv although, this didn't stop if from working before. It looks like I am connecting to the network but for some reason the internet isn't working because the ip renew does not go through. I think I'll try reinstalling the drivers because I installed them before I installed my ethernet drivers, not sure if that would make a difference. My internet is fine on the wired computer downstairs.

Dug out the installation guide. Supposed to wait to plug into the pci slot until after installing the drivers, I reinstalled following this and now it works. Thanks for the help.
