Help Creating My First Gaming Computer

How is it going? As the topic states I will be building my first gaming computer, or computer in general. A little about my skills, I've been doing a ton of research and done minor things such as replace power supplies and memory, so I have some knowledge. Now, some quick notes:

1. I live in the US.

2. I'm looking to spend between $500 and $900. I know it's a big range, but I'm trying to do it for as little as possible, but still want to be able to get some good quality gear.

3. I will be using this rig for a variety of things. I started WoW a couple of years ago, and am starting to get interested in other MMOs on the market. Currently I play on a laptop with all low settings, so I figure it's time to upgrade and I want to try and max settings as much as possible. I also use it for most normal things, and may be doing some video editing on it.

4. Newegg.com is where I plan on purchasing most parts.

5. I may be willing to go over budget, but then it'll take a little more time to purchase things. If at all possible, it would be nice to make it easily upgradeable for future additions. I plan on running Windows 7 64 bit so upgrading the memory would be nice to do in the future.

6. This is just the computer, I'm not looking for a monitor or other peripherals.

Now, some things I would like. I'd prefer DDR3 memory, or having the board DDR3 memory compatible. I'm looking at the ATI Radeon 5770 and preferably DirectX11 ready, but how is the 4890? Would it work for me and will it not go outdated too quickly? As far as CPU goes, that's where I haven't decided. The Phenom or the i5? And then finally, the biggest problem I'm having is finding components that match, since this is my first time building.

Anyways, any and all help is appreciated. Thanks so much.

I'm in the exact same boat as you my friend!

I wanna keep mine under $1000.

I play MMO's and FPS.

Newegg is the place to be

AMD or Intel?

So if any of you guru's out there can help out...we wanna here it!

Core i5 > phenom II. I would depends on how much you want to spend.

4890 > 5770 in general, except 5770 support DirectX11

I reckon the 5770 will do you two guys fine if you play MMO and FPS e.g. WoW + Crysis. Plus the direct 11 support pretty much upgrade prrof for the next few years. case... Probably the antec 300 or 900 or maybe even the 902. I, myself would go for the 300 but you dont get a side panel. CPU I would say get a Intel dual core e.g. 8400 but AMD are pretty good so that's a hard one. RAM... Go for at least DDR3 (1600), go for the corsair dominator ddr3 2GB. Its pretty neat. HDD - well 1TB is pretty cheap nowadays so go for 1tb but a minumum of 500gb. OS - windows 7 premium, w7 is well worth the money your paying for it and its not like crappy vista. I know ive missed out other stuff like the mobo ect but thats for you to decide really. Good luck :D
