Help!Dell Won't Boot.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160. While I was using it today, the power cord, where it goes into the back of the computer wiggled a little, which caused some 'static' on the screen, and ultimately caused the laptop to shut off. (I had this connection repaired not long ago)
Now when I power it on, it goes to the 'Dell' screen, the progress bar moves to about 75%, then it stops, goes blank and starts over.
I've tried pushing the each of the 'F' buttons, including F8, and I can't get it to shift out of this loop. I also tried loading the Windows CD that came with it, but it cuts out when the screen goes blank at the end of this loop. I've tried it with and without the battery, same with the power cord.
I'm worried as I've got an awful lot of stuff on this laptop.
 
ok, seems to be a bios proplem, if you look on the bottom of it you will see a memory bay with some screws that you can remove. take the battery and the power coard out first then take the screws off and open the bay. hopefully there will be a battery there it is a small thing with two wires pluged into the mother board. just pull that cord out and wait 30 sec and plug it back in and try to reboot it
 
Hi,

There are two 'doors' on the bottom of the computer. I've got them open, but am not sure what I'm removing, or even how these things would come out. One has a small black screw in each opposite corner. There are two wires that come up into one of the openings that don't go to anything and have clear plastic caps on the ends

I see what I think is the battery on mine, it's wrapped in a white label, and has just one black wire that goes inside the computer. I'm taking a picture now
 
Naturally I can't figure out how to insert a picture. Its on my c drive and not an http address. I think this is the battery, I was able to unplug the wire going into it, and it looks like it has 2 contacts on the plug. I'll wait, reinsert the plug and try starting the computer.

Edit: No luck, same deal.

it could... let me do some looking around. but if you want to post it you can use imageshack.us or upload it on the post reply there is attach file

edit so it is possable that is is under the case. but someone else may have a different idea of what to o that does not require you to open your laptop up.

yeah i dont see it, that black wire may be your wireless. someone should have a different way then pulling out your whole case... give it a hr someone should help
 
I took everything apart, unsoldered and resoldered the cmos battery back in place, but it didn't do the trick, still having the same issue.

The black wire is your wireless card one. The only trick that is doable is for you to remove the memories, press the power button on the laptop without the battery or an ac adapter in, drain it a bit, then put the memory chips back in, sometimes that trick works. Try 1 memory at a time.
