Help desk top doesnt appear on moniter?

The fans are spinning on my computer, it does power up, but the moniter goes right to sleep mode? doesnt appear on screen? any suggestions?

Tell us a little more about what you did on the computer before the problem started. No display but everything powers up is a good chance its the video card.
