Hello everyone,

I would like some help downloading pdfs. I normally click 'download xx pdf' and it pops up in a small bar at the bottom of my screen. Then I click on it and it opens in a new window. However, today I tried to download pdfs and it just automatically opened in Adobe ImageReady which doesn't work on my computer and so it forced exit. I don't know why it's changed how it opened, and I've looked in my browser settings and computer settings and can't find how to change it.

I'm very sorry if this is a really stupid question - this has never happened to me before and my assumption is that there's a very simple solution but I just don't know what it is!

Go to a PDF. Right click and choose Open With... then select Adobe Reader and tick the box that says "Always use this program" or similar.

If you're using Firefox - go to tools, options, applications - portable document format (pdf) and there you can choose between preview, ask or save.

Thanks for the help guys :D voyagerfan99 I was able to resolve the problem in the end by doing something very similar to this. Thank you! :)

Well, I bet Adobe has more vulnerabilities. In my version of Foxit no macros execute and I have never had a problem with it. In fact, the last time I got a virus was 2004. I scan the computer with no less than five malware scanners and all return nothing including the use of a government malware scanner. I use Sandboxie, Noscript and Bitdefender Free as the front door.
