Pleas take time to read this i know its long but i need help.
I have posted questions in dslreports and other forums about my problem. About 3 months ago our Altell, now Windstream DSL was working fine. Sites would apear in the blink of an eye just like most DSL providers. Then it stopped. It just wouldn't load a page at all. This went on for about 4 days before our neighborhood computer guy came and all he had to do was delete the cookies and then it worked fine. 2 days passed and it started again. We called and talked to the Altell tech support for tens of minutes and they finally sent a guy out to take a look. He said the power going to the Efficients Speedstream 5200, was not up to par so he got that up better. It still did not help. He was able to plug it into a laptop and it worked fine so he said it was probobly the computer. So our computer guy came out and scanned for spyware which he found a lot of. Our old spyware blocker was s#*%. He installed spyware blaster and updated our norton to the Internet Security edition with firewall. The internet was back up and running but to me it is not the same. It hangs up and page cannot be displayed shows about every other time i click go or check yahoo mail. I need help. Is their any tests i can run. I feel i have tried everything and am begining to think it is my computer.
Here are some specs that i know of.
OS: XP SP2, 1.35 GHz, 736 MB of RAM
Browser: Firefox
Connect using:VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter
Connection uses: Microsoft TCO/IP version 6, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
ISP: Windstream
Modem: Speedstream 5200
Router: Netgear 54 Mbps Wireless Router WGR614 v6
Thats about all i know or have found out. Oh one more thing, the router routes to an older computer. It does not connect at all so i am wondering if it is in the router or the Speedstream 5200. I have no idea, thats why i am asking you. Thanks for the HELP.
