Help!Error "cant find myself on the drive i booted from"

ok so i tried booting my pc and it brings this up

So i clicked on boot normal it wouldnt do anything,so i tried safe mode it wouldnt work either,

here is another pic of what it shows when i lick boot normal

so i put windows 7 on a bootable usb drive and when i go to boot my flashdrive and install it i get this

It looks to me as your hard drive has failed and its time for a new one.

Halifax, that is not right.

OP: That message is from a Linux boot CD. Try taking the CD out of the drive and trying to boot again. After you do this we can farther work out the issue (should there be an issue).

no disk was in there it was running windows xp

In that case. Have you tried installing a Linux Distro at any point? The error in the last 2 pictures will not happen without some linux on either the HDD, a Flashkey, or CD/DVD.

In that case, this is a very strange issue.

Do you know what brand you hard drive is?

okay. try running a deep scan using seatools. After you do that, report back. I'm working off the theory right now that HP somwhow used the syslinux to make a custom boot menu or start screen.
