My Mums XP PC was running as a FAT32 and decided to change it to NTFS (believing no files would be harmed) I followed instructions from numerous websites. I opened the command prompt and typed - C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs. The Pc restarted and the process seemed to be working. After 10 mins the PC restarted but as soon as it got past the beep, all that came up was a blank black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen. There was also no hard drive activity. The computer will not go any further even after powering up 3 or 4 times.
I then tried booting from the XP disc. That seemed to be working too but when it restarted, the exact same thing happens. Black screen - flashing cursor. Tried Recovery Console (same again) Install Repair (same again)
Can somebody help. I hope I dont need to fresh install xp again and risk losing everything.
THANX.
