I would like to buy a new CPU for my PC. The problem is I would like to know what type of CPU's will work.
I'm not sure how to find out what MB I have???
HP's website says this:
Base processor
Pentium E2200 (C) 2.2 GHz (65W)
800 MHz front side bus
Socket 775
Chipset
Intel G33 Express
Motherboard
Manufacturer: Asus
Motherboard Name: IPIBL-LB
HP/Compaq motherboard name: Benicia-GL8E

Could somebody please tell me what type of CPU I can upgrade to?
Thanks

Thank you!!!
I have been searching for hours.
I'm assuming I can practically put any of the high end CPU's in it???
I was looking at the E8400. It says E8xxx. Am I reading it right? It will take the E8400, right. I know the question sounds dumb, I just want to make sure before I order it.
Again thanks.

If it says E8XXX, that just means it will take any CPU of the E8 class.

Like said above, it claims to support it so it should. Might need a bios update to recognize it, depending on how long you have had the computer. But it should support it.

I'm not sure what a bios is. But the PC came out last week, it's brand new, so I guess I shouldn't have a problem.
