Help for a Gearhead?

I have discovered forums have a massive amount of collective knowledge on the subjects covered. I am just a gearhead looking to upgrade my computer to handle editing chores that I now have after the purchase of a GoPro camera for hot rod use. I'm checking out "gamer" PC's like iBuyPower and the such. Is a gamer type PC the hot ticket for video editing? I am open to all suggestions on what to get, thanks in advance.

BTW, I pulled the trigger on a new computer purchase. Tell me if I did good, as you seem to know about them. I had to spec it because I couldn't find what I wanted in a finished unit. Remember this is for video editing, I'm not a gamer and never will be.
