Help for a newbie

Do you have another AGP video card you can use to test with? I would recommend seating another card in the AGP slot and firing your computer up. If nothing happens, AGP slot faulty or no, that mobo is toast. My guess, since you know your current video card works, is that nothing is gonna happen if you try another video card. If all else fails, pull everything out of the case including the motherboard. Make sure there are no loose screws or anything behind it. Im assuming it is an ATX form factor case and with that said, put a little strip of electrical tape over the screw mounts on the interior of the case and poke a small hole in the tape so you can screw your motherboard back down. My thought process here, and its far fetched, is that your motherboard may not be grounded.

About the only thing left you can try is replacing the motherboard, hopefully you are still able to RMA it.

Thanks

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help with my little problem. It was definitely a MB problem (in addition my new PSU ended up being DOA so it had to be replaced). Once I changed it the computer powered up without any problems. Of course XP won't load, but my linux partition will. I'll get around to fixing that one of these days.
