Hi,
I have a Dell computer that halts during boot up and asks for: "Type the system password and press <ENTER>". I wouldn't have a clue what this password is but it's not the one given me by the previous owner.
I've downloaded a BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool and burned the download image to a CD. Unfortunately the PC won't even let me get into the BIOS to change the boot order so as far as I can tell the disk is useless.
Anyone got any other ideas?
Cheers,
Russ

try the word 'admin' for password. thats the default. maybe he didn't change it like he thinks.

with the computer off then unplug. take the side cover off and take out the button battery on the motherboard. wait 5 or 10 min and pop it back in. (same polarity), plug it in and try it.
default should be admin now.

be aware if older computer 4 or 5 yrs old ya might have a bad battery also, at least coming up. most i think are 2032.

It may or may not be legit, but this rule won't allow it to be discussed.

Discussion of any of the following is NOT allowed at Computer Forum:
Cracking or bypassing an administrator/any other user log-in password.

Please contact the previous owner for support as we can't help you as per the forum rule that TFT posted.
