Ok my friend has a budget of $1000 curently and he says he can save up to $1500. He wants to get a new computer for his room, he needs everything. He doesnt want to build though. All his guidelines are a 6800/7800 series card, and an athlon 64 processor. He isnt looking to overclock, so you can basicly skimp on other crap without noticing. :P

I know these are steep guidelines, but is there anyway they can be met? Oh and he's a gamer.

is he a hard-core gamer? if hes not really a "hard core gamer", i would go with an Athlon 64 3500+, 6800GT, 1GB DDR400, 200GB SATA II, and a dvd burner. thats pretty much a simple configuration, lol

$1500 unless you can get it for less.

Also he doesnt want to build it...

never said that he needed to build it, im sure you can get those in a pre-built system. why dont you build it for him? lol

Lol I was just thinking the same thing...

Where can he get a system like that? I think I may not have mentioned he needed a monitor also.

He wants an SLI mobo but there's no way he can get it so this comes total to $1,579.00 :)

Worst case I'll OC it for him ;)

nice system. but dont get the Logitech MX 1000 cordless mouse cuz its not worth it. From what i read in reviews is that since its cordless it sucks up battery like crazy, can be unresponsive at times and its a huge mouse. Since your friend is a gamer get the new logitech g5($57 at newegg.com) or the razr daimondback(~$50 maybe less). As for the headset i think its pretty expensive for $79. Plantronics has cheaper ones that are just as good or better.
Additionally i think you should build it and if it comes down to less than $1500, just say it was and you kno the ship and handling( to get it to his house) and the time and effort you spent. You should get a little something. lol :P

im sure u could manage to skimp on something to bring it under the price range, keyboard, mouse monitor?

This is just crazy. Take the advice of someone who owns one and not from someone who read 1 bad review (all reviews I read where good).

I own this mouse and it is just great! the battery not only is great but it has a 3 stage light indicator right on the mouse to let you know the charged state. I've been using mine for a little while now and it's perfect for my needs and I game often. As for unresponsive I've not had this problem. I did have a problem one where the cursor moved kinda erratic though and it turned out to be dirt on the sensor which I blew on and it went away. As for huge I suppose that's true as far as mice go but its also very comfortable in your hand compared to many low profile mice which seems like a chore to grip.

It's all personal preference but this mouse is a very solid performer for games and everyday use.

Ahh your loop holes of speach are really confusing lol... are you considering being a politician?...
hehe, well the reason i gave the specs is so that someone (say, you or another of his friends) can put it together for him -- or he can take the specs list to a store and get them to build it and pay them for labour :)

i concurr ... id like an extra 24hrs on the battery but 96hrs straight useage is still pretty damn good ... i do like the way 10sec charge = 4minutes play so you dont technically have to interrupt yer game too much :P ... then again if you are playing a game for 96hrs+ straight you have other issues :P
